Melbourne, Victoria, 8/08/2011 – An overall focus on consumer-level features, and some incompatibility with a range of enterprise software, such as VPN clients, printers and existing power PC software. Australia’s AGTC Consulting has called for a measured approach with regards to migrating toOS X Lion.

“Regardless of the commendable move to sandboxed applications and Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR),” said AGTC Senior Consultant Arran Greenhalgh, “we feel that between the removal of Rosetta, the shift from MySQL to PostgreSQL, breaks in application support, and the significant investment of resources involved in creating contingencies for a potential site-wide rollback, migration should definitely be fully evaluated before procedding.”

OS X Lion comes complete with a range of redesigned and updated core applications and full 64-bit processing compatibility out of the box which has significantly improved performance. The new release represents a unification between the iOS platform and the desktop OS which has some great usability benefits. The new Lion OS retails for AUD$31.99 as a download from the App Store.

For more information on how best to manage and secure your OS X infrastructure, contact AGTC at info@agtcconsulting.com.au or call Arran on (03) 9013 0032.

About AGTC Consulting – AGTC Consulting Pty Ltd (AGTC) is a boutique consulting firm that specialises in the provision of IT/Biotech professional services to a broad range of companies, research institutions and industry associations.
